Scouts can make a difference in the lives of our hungry neighbors! The Boys Scouts will join forces with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan for a council-wide community service project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Scouting for Food is a community service project that addresses the problem of hunger in the community in which we live and work.
Bag Drop-Off: November 3 - 9
Boy Scouts of America, Venturers, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts will be distributing plastic grocery bags to homes in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. In addition, Girl Scouts will be distributing bags in Monroe and Genesee counties.
Bag Pick-Up: November 10
On Saturday, November 11, Scouts will go back to those houses to collect the plastic grocery bags filled with donated food. Please help by donating boxed or canned goods only (ex. peanut butter, tuna, soup, ravioli, beef stew, and other high-protein items). Nothing perishable, frozen or in glass.
Food collection begins at 9 a.m. so be sure to have your bag out early. Collection will continue throughout the day.
If You Do Not Receive a Bag or Your Donation Is Not Collected
Though this initiative is very large, the Scouts will not drop-off and pick-up in every community throughout the 5 counties. If you do not receive a bag from the Scouts, please do not leave food on your doorstep. Instead, please drop off your donation on November 11 at one of the locations listed below.
Thank you for helping feed our hungry neighbors!
