Where is My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery located?
2826 Bagley Avenue, Detroit in the Mercado at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center (FREC).
When is it open?
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am – 3 pm.
What is available for purchase?
Examples of food available for purchase include:
• Meat (fresh frozen) – Ground Beef 80% Lean, Ground Turkey 90% Lean, Chicken Breasts, and Chicken Quarters.
• Dairy – Shredded Mozzarella and Cheddar Jack Cheese, Sharp Cheddar Chunk Cheese, and 2% Milk (refer to the $1 milk incentive for details).
• Canned Goods – Various Fruit and Vegetable, Tuna and Chicken, Beef Stew, Spaghetti Sauce and More.
• Dry Goods – Beans, Rice Pasta, Cereal, Peanut Butter, Ranch Dressing Orange Juice, and more.
• Meal Bag – We also offer a meal bag which includes all the ingredients necessary to prepare a hot meal to feed a family of 4.
Are you selling donated food?
No, MNMG only sells food purchased directly from our producer and distributors.
Do I need an appointment?
We do not require an appointment to shop with us. If you prefer, you can schedule a shopping time and you will receive phone or text reminders; please call 313-571-0303.
Is My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery for Bridge Card shoppers only?
Yes, as long as you have funds loaded on you Bridge Card (EBT benefits), you can shop at My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery.
Can I use cash?
At this time, we are not accepting cash; we only accept payments by Bridge Card (EBT).
Can I purchase the milk?
Milk is available for $1 a gallon (2 gallon limit) with a minimum required purchase. After spending $20, customers have the opportunity to purchase one gallon of fresh 2% milk for $1. After spending $40, customer have the opportunity to purchase a second gallon of 2% milk for $1.
Do I need a photo ID with the bridge card?
No, ID is not required.
Is there a way for me to check the balance on my Bridge Card at My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery?
Yes, customers can confirm their balance before they complete their order at the cashier table. You may also call the toll free number: 888-678-8914.
How often can I shop?
We encourage you to shop at My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery every week. Shoppers may have up to one appointment per week. By shopping weekly, you have the opportunity to receive the free produce and milk for $1 with the minimum required purchase.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the north side of the building, in the lot across the street to the south of the building or on the street.
What is the Fresh Produce Incentive?
After spending $20, customers will receive free, fresh produce. For example, the free produce may be a three pound bag of apples and a five pound bag of potatoes. After spending $40, the produce is doubled. Each week, the free produce will be different. For example, rather than apples and potatoes, during another week the produce may be carrots and sweet potatoes. The fresh produce is not available for purchase.
What is the Low-Price Milk Incentive?
After spending $20, customers will receive the opportunity to purchase one gallon of fresh 2% milk for $1.
After spending $40 customer will receive the opportunity to purchase a second gallon of milk for $1.
The milk is not available for purchase except as an incentive.
If I spend $60 or more, do I continue to receive incentives?
No. The incentives stop after $40.
Do you accept cash or credit cards?
No, at this time bridge cards are the only accepted form of payment.
Do I have to shop at My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery to get free food from the Food Hub pantry at the Mercado?
No, My Neighborhood Mobile Pantry is a completely separate program from the Food Hub pantry at the Mercado. Please refer to the question below for additional information.
How do I get free food from the Food Hub pantry at the Mercado?
Food Hub at the Mercado is an emergency food pantry. Residents of zip codes 48209, 48210, 48216 and 48217 who are in need of emergency food assistance may make an appointment with the Food Hub by calling (313) 963-3880. Their Hours of Operation are: Monday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm; Wednesday 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm; Saturday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Additional sources of emergency food assistance may be accessed by calling the United Way Hotline of Southeast Michigan at 211.
