Each year, Gleaners distributes millions of pounds of food through our network of partner pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers and other agencies that directly feed hungry people. We also reach our neighbors in need through mobile distributions and programs that are designed to directly reach children.
Cooking Matters TM is a groundbreaking nutrition-education program that connects low-income individuals and families with food by teaching them how to prepare healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget.
Gleaners collects 34.5 million pounds of food a year and distributes 79,000 meals each day including providing nourishing food and nutrition education to 84,700 children a year. Every dollar donated provides three meals and 93 cents of every donated dollar goes to food and food programs.
Our farm is a network of three gardens located in Westland, Plymouth Township, and Farmington Hills. All produce is donated to local food pantries. Adult and youth volunteers come to work and learn in the gardens.
