Give a Hand for the Holidays

Donate $5 or 5 lbs to help
make someone's holiday brighter!

Gleaners is reaching out to business, civic and religious organizations to “Give a Hand for the Holidays.” With your support, we hope to provide 600,000 meals for neighbors in need. By holding a food or fund drive between October 1st and December 31st and encouraging your group members to each give $5 or 5 lbs, you can help hungry families in our community have a happy and healthy holiday season.

An increasing number of Michigan families are facing hunger as a result of job loss, foreclosure, or wage reduction. Over 700,000 people are missing meals each week, half of whom are children. Meals provided by “Give a Hand for the Holidays” will be distributed to hungry families through our 600 partner agencies across the five counties Gleaners serves.

Help your neighbors in need by organizing a “Give a Hand for the Holidays” drive. Food or funds – it’s your choice - both are critical to feeding those in need!

Gleaners can provide everything you need to host a successful drive:

• Food & Fund Drive Kit, a step-by-step guide on organizing a drive
• A food drive coordinator to answer questions and help make your drive a success
• Food drive boxes and posters, I fed someone today stickers and donor wall cards
• Collection canisters for monetary donations. Every dollar you raise provides three meals because of Gleaners' close relationships with companies in the food processing industry
• A centralized holiday donation form including the option to select your company/team. We will send you a weekly online donation status report on how much your group has raised
• Gleaners can arrange a donation pick-up if your collection exceeds 250 pounds
• Acknowledgement on the Gleaners webpage
