Thank you to everyone who was able to support this year's Iron Chef Competition!
The celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Iron Chef event included several exciting twists. To start, four past champion chefs returned and were paired at random for the competition.
Similar to years past, the two teams created an appetizer, entrée, and dessert with a ‘secret ingredient’ (Blueberries) but were surprised with the addition of a second 'secret ingredient' (Michigan Beer). In the end, the votes came within a 1/2 a point, with Chef Steve and Chef Tammy successfully winning the first Champions Battle!
The 2014 Iron Chef event also featured its first Mixology competition, a head-to-head battle between local Mixologists Lindsay Palizzi of Downtown Main Martini Bar & Grille, and Dani Borden of Diamonds Steak & Seafood to create the best cocktail, including a secret ingredient (cucumbers), in 5 minutes! A panel of 3 judged the flavorful concoctions, naming Dani Borden the first Mixology Competition Champion.
Great food and drinks were had by all, with attendees dining on plates prepared by more than 20 local restaurants and markets. More than 500 people came together for the 10th annual event to help feed hungry individuals in Livingston County.
