Mobile Pantry Program

Gleaners Community Food Bank and its partner agencies are providing food to neighborhoods by the truckload! Featuring an average of 14,000 pounds of food, the mobile pantry allows our partners to target areas of need where no pantry currently exists.

The mobile pantry is a traveling food pantry that delivers food directly to agencies to hold a one-day, large-scale food distribution for people in need. Gleaners delivers the food to the partner agency, and their volunteers work to set it up like a farmers market.

Clients are invited to attend and register through the participating partner agency. On the distribution day, each registered client receives a large box of food, typically including perishable and nonperishable food items, including frozen meat and fresh produce.

Gleaners' mobile pantry is available to serve up to 150 clients, and special arrangements can be made to serve up to 450 clients at a single distribution site. Partner agencies should contact Dave Duey (dduey@gcfb.org or 866-GLEANER, ext. 247) in our Agency Relations Department to learn more about the cost of this program. Reserving the mobile pantry is based on availability.

Organizations that are not official Gleaners “partner agencies” may participate in the mobile pantry program, provided they meet certain criteria (such as 501(c)(3) documentation, health department approval, etc.). Contact agency relations staff (at the numbers listed above) to learn more and to obtain an application.
