My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery:

My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery (MNMG) is a weekly pop-up market that provides families and individuals who have low accessMNMG Logo to affordable, healthy foods with a new and innovative shopping option within their communities. Volunteers greet and assist shoppers, assemble orders on truck, check and bag orders for customers, and assist with market set-up and tear-down.  Various two hour shifts available Mon – Fri at one veterans’ apartment building and 16 senior citizen apartment buildings in Madison Heights, Southfield, Westland, Center Line, Harper Woods, Detroit and Highland Park.  Eight volunteers needed per location.

Henry’s Groceries for Health

HenrysIn this program with Henry Ford Health System, volunteers ride in a van with a Gleaners staff member to assist with delivering bags of healthy food directly to people at their homes. Depart from and return to Gleaners Detroit Distribution Center. Shifts Mon – Fri from 8:30 – noon and from noon – 3:30.  This opportunity is for one person at a time.

Garden Vegetable Sauce:

Garden SauceGleaners is rescuing truckloads of vegetable puree and using it to make the delicious Beaufait's Garden Vegetable Sauce. Volunteers are needed to assist with processing and packaging at the Rising Stars Academy food production facility in Center Line. Shifts are available Thursdays and Fridays from 9 – 11:30 am and from 1 – 3:30 pm.  Up to 12 volunteers needed per shift.

Mercado Food Hub:

Mercado Food Hub is a client choice pantry located at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center.  Volunteer activities include helping clients shop, loading food into vehicles, stocking pantry shelves, and cleaning.  Shifts of varying lengths Mon – Thu and Saturday.  6 to 12 volunteers needed per shift.
