With the rise in food insecurity throughout southeast Michigan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, even more children at risk of going hungry. School-aged kids are experiencing additional months away from the classroom, and many parents are providing an increased level of care—from schoolwork to at-home meals. Together with Bank of America, we can help ensure children in need have the nutritious food they deserve to learn, grow and thrive.
Gleaners is honored to have Bank of America join our Making Investments in the Lives of Kids (M.I.L.K.) Movement as a presenting sponsor. The M.I.L.K. Movement is Gleaners’ special focus on school-aged children and aims to provide kids with the nutritious food they deserve.
Fresh milk offers nutrients to help kids grow up happy and healthy. The USDA recommends children receive three servings a day. At Gleaners, milk is the most sought-after item, yet it is rarely donated. With more families struggling to put food on the table than ever before—milk is even farther from reach. Thanks to partnerships with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan and now Bank of America, the M.I.L.K. Movement is providing fresh milk to an additional 55,000 additional households each month.
In addition, Bank of America continues to participate in the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Cereal Drive by encouraging employees to donate. The 2020 Drive will take place online as a Virtual Food Drive, offering a safe and easy way for anyone to donate. Gleaners and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan are honored to have the dedicated support of Bank of America in this community-wide effort. Join Bank of America and help provide wholesome meals to kids in need.
