Food Banks Are Essential Service Providers

Gleaners Community Food Bank continues to serve those in need during this unprecedented time. With Michigan in a state of emergency, schools and businesses closed, and our local governments mandating a ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives’ order for all residents, we want to ensure the public that Gleaners will continue to distribute food to our hungry neighbors.

If you are in need, call 2-1-1 and in addition you can visit our food distribution page for a map of sites where emergency food will be handed out.

Gleaners is working extended hours to add new drive-up mobile distribution sites. The safety of our guests, partners and staff are of the utmost importance. We are in close contact with public health officials, and our teams are taking all necessary precautions to safely and efficiently distribute food.

Now, more than ever, our continued efforts are critical to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors get access to food. Gleaners is committed to be a stabilizing force for families and our partners in this great time of need. And you can help. Here are a few ways to help feed people and nourish your community:

Make a Donation
Our ability to adapt operations to best serve the community relies on support from individuals like you. Monetary gifts help us collect food and ensure distributions continue to make it to those most in need.

Create a Virtual Food Drive
Community members and organizations are encouraged to start Virtual Food Drives rather than physical food drives to adhere to social distancing recommendations. These drives are an easy way to help ensure Gleaners can purchase and deliver our most needed items.
