In the 2023-2024 school year, students, teachers, principals, and parents at local K-12 schools provided more than 208,000 meals for our hungry neighbors.
Hosting a school food drive gives students a great way to help other kids in their community. It’s an easy way for students to make a difference, and we provide resources, supplies, and donation.

School volunteer opportunities
Keep the momentum going after your school’s food drive or fundraiser by volunteering at our Taylor warehouse! Students in 8th grade or higher can help pack meals, with each volunteer packing over 300 meals during an average shift. It’s a great way for kids to see how the food they’ve helped collect reaches people in need, build teamwork, and keep making a difference. Groups are limited to 30 students, with at least 3 chaperones required.
Mountain of Food
The three K-12 schools that donate the most meals per student each school year receive recognition through the Mountain of Food program, sponsored by Rick Young Insurance. Awards of $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place can be used by schools for special needs or additional projects, with no restrictions on how the funds are spent. This support from Rick Young Insurance helps schools achieve goals that might otherwise be challenging.
“I really want to motivate these kids to think about what they can do for charities. Giving back to others feels good – and it helps students feel good about themselves. My goal is to have students that, after they graduate, continue to do good in their communities.” - Rick Young
