Detroit Food Zoo Garden

Detroit Food Zoo is a learning garden with exhibits that show different ways to garden creatively, including a pizza garden, salad bar garden, salsa garden, even a garden in a grocery cart! Youth learn about hunger and nutrition as well as help to plant, weed, water and harvest. Up to 15 volunteers needed per shift.

Families

All adults are required to register themselves, and may include up to four youth as guests on their registration. Due to limited availability, we ask that you only register for one shift per month and cancel promptly if you are unable to attend.

Groups of 10 or more

Please complete a shift request form and a Gleaners volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule your group’s shift. Group size is limited to 15 youth. At least one chaperone for every ten youth is required for children age nine or older. At least one chaperone for every five youth is required for children age five to eight.
