The way we treat people in our organization, and throughout our community, is important to us. When someone comes to Gleaners, whether they are a guest needing food, a volunteer donating their time, or an employee or board member, they will be welcomed with respect and dignity, and met with fair and equal treatment. These tenets are part of the core of Gleaners’ mission.
That’s why it’s especially meaningful to be recognized as a leader in our DEIJ (diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice) efforts. With pride, we announce that Gleaners was selected to receive the Diversity Champion Award at Corp! Magazine’s 16th annual Salute to Diversity Awards & Conference.
The awards and conference brought together nearly 200 attendees and DEIJ leaders to focus on ways organizations can expand their efforts to be more inclusive and equitable. Gleaners’ Vice President of Community Engagement, Judith McNeeley, was featured during the conference as part of an Executive Thought Leadership panel, where some of the state’s top leaders in diversity efforts discussed their experiences and shared best practices for organizations to implement DEIJ efforts in their work.
Gleaners has an active DEIJ Council, composed of employees from various levels and departments. The council’s role is to advance Gleaners’ goal of achieving a diverse, inclusive, engaged, and productive team where all team members, volunteers, guests, leaders, and board members feel respected and valued regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, education, or any other identity. Gleaners is committed to providing equal opportunities for employment, volunteering, and advancement in all areas of our work. We strive to model diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, maintaining fair and equal treatment for all.
