December 19, Mich. – The Food Bank Council of Michigan (FBCM) presented Mike Acheson with the Beacon of Light award at the Michigan Harvest Gathering luncheon in November.
Mike Acheson was recognized by Gleaners Community Food Bank for his tremendous commitment of time, talent and treasure and for being an integral source of steadfast support to the organization.
“The Beacon of Light award winners are our advocates in the community continually pushing to end hunger in Michigan,” said Dr. Phil Knight, FBCM executive director. “We are proud to honor them as Beacon of Light award winners.”
The Michigan Harvest Gathering kicked off Thursday, Sept. 22, at the state Capitol with a goal to raise 2 million meals. This statewide hunger relief campaign has raised nearly 403,000 pounds of food, including farm donations of fresh fruits and vegetables grown in Michigan and $308,859 in funds. The Michigan Harvest Gathering provided over 2.2 million meals.
