Volunteers are the foundation of Shared Harvest Pantry and a vital part of how Gleaners helps move Livingston County closer to food security. At our recent Livingston Volunteer Appreciation event, Gleaners’ team members and volunteers gathered at the Ivy Table in Brighton to celebrate the individuals and teams whose time, compassion, and leadership make a lasting difference for neighbors across our community.
Celebrating Award‑Winning Volunteers
This year’s event honored volunteers whose service reflects the very best of what community looks like. The Dave Siebert Hunger Hero Award recognized Dave Siebert for more than two decades of steady leadership and commitment at Shared Harvest Pantry. Since 2002, Dave has welcomed neighbors, supported volunteers, and helped ensure the pantry remains a place of dignity, consistency, and care. His belief in offering hope—one interaction at a time—has shaped the culture of the pantry and inspired countless others to serve.

We also celebrated the Emerging Leader in Service Award, presented to Averie Faulk, the youngest regular volunteer at Shared Harvest Pantry. Since beginning to volunteer in 2023, Averie has shown remarkable consistency and heart, contributing nearly every week and helping log 370 hours of service alongside the Friday Crew. Her dedication is a powerful reminder that leadership and service have no age requirement.
Additional honors recognized volunteers and partners whose impact is felt every day. Mary St. Pierre and Bert Belding received the Legacy of Service Award for their years of dedication and thousands of hours supporting neighbors through Shared Harvest Pantry. The Impact in Action Award was presented to Lake Trust Credit Union, whose volunteer team has partnered with Gleaners for more than a decade and contributed more than 100 hours of service at the pantry in 2025 alone.
The Impact of Volunteers
Because of volunteers, Shared Harvest Pantry is nourishing neighbors with healthy food and creating a welcoming space marked with dignity, choice, and care. Week after week, volunteers sort, stock, serve, and build relationships that create consistency and trust. Their commitment helps ensure families across Livingston County have reliable access to nutritious food and feel supported in their community.

With Gratitude
We are deeply grateful to every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to this work. Together, you make it possible for Gleaners to continue serving neighbors with compassion and respect, and bring us closer to a hunger-free Southeast Michigan.
