Huntington Bank employees celebrated the organization’s inaugural Service Heart Day by volunteering with Gleaners Community Food Bank and other local hunger-relief nonprofits, including CARES in Farmington Hills, Forgotten Harvest, JFS of Washtenaw County, Mid-City Nutrition, and Lighthouse of Michigan. Employees also supported local schools such as Stevenson Elementary in Southfield and Webb Elementary in Ferndale by teaching financial literacy skills through educational activities around budgeting, saving and generosity.
“Gleaners mission to create a hunger-free community begins with the belief that people are worth investing in. Huntington’s Service Heart Day demonstrates a genuine commitment to showing up for our neighbors and driving meaningful change. Volunteers are essential to Gleaners ability to nourish communities, and we’re grateful for Huntington and the hundreds of volunteers they are mobilizing to support families and households across Southeast Michigan.” – Angela Moloney, President & CEO, Gleaners Community Food Bank
