Infused Water

One of the biggest ways that sugar can add up throughout the day is in beverages. Sports drinks, soda, sweetened teas, and many others have high quantities of sugar that increase the likelihood of multiple health concerns such as diabetes. However, drinking just water all the time can get boring! One way to mix things up is to drink water that has been infused with fruits, vegetables, and herbs such as basil or mint. Another added benefit of infused water besides added flavor is that it will also add electrolytes to the water.  To make infused water, simply add cut fruit or vegetables to a pitcher or container of water and place in the refrigerator overnight, or for at least four hours, to infuse. Try some of these combinations: watermelon with lime; cucumber and mint; berries and basil.
