The Kroger Michigan Division celebrated the grand reopening of its newly renovated store on Chilson Commons Circle in Pinckney today. During the grand reopening, Ken DeLuca, president of the Kroger Michigan Division, discussed the $17.6 million renovation and outlined the retailer’s efforts to create a shopping environment beloved by customers and a workplace cherished by associates.
“Since 2005, we have proudly served customers in Pinckney, Hamburg and the surrounding communities, and we cannot wait for these same customers to walk through our front doors to enjoy these new amenities, variation of products and expanded footprint of the store,” said DeLuca. “I am so immensely proud of our associates for their hard work and dedication in renovating the store to create a shopping destination that truly reflects the needs and spirit of this community.”
The $17.6 million renovation of the store included a significant expansion, adding nearly 30,000 square feet to the store’s footprint. This extensive project introduced a new Starbucks, enhancing the in-store experience for coffee lovers, and a new Murray’s Cheese Shop, offering a wide selection of gourmet cheeses. The renovation also added a convenient new pharmacy drive-thru window, making prescription pickups easier for customers. Additionally, customers can now enjoy additional checkout lanes to reduce wait times, and an expanded produce area, offering a wider variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
“Hamburg Township has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with our local Kroger since they first came to the area in 2005,” said Pat Hohl, Hamburg Township supervisor. “In addition to providing employment opportunities for our residents, they have also been very generous in their support of local charities, non-profits, and food banks. We appreciate Kroger’s continued investment in our community, and we are excited for our local residents to enjoy the new amenities, services, and merchandise in the store.
In a release, Kroger said it is also committed to supporting healthy, thriving communities through its signature Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan that emphasizes the unique role the retailer plays across the food system as an employer, food processor, retailer, healthcare provider and more. Last year alone, the Kroger Michigan Division provided more than 41 million meals to local hunger relief organizations across the state. During the grand reopening, the company further showcased its ongoing commitment to combatting food insecurity by donating $10,000 to the Farley Hill Food Pantry. These funds will be used by their resource center to continue its vital work of providing healthy food and essential supplies to students and families within the Pinckney Community School District.
“The Farley Hill Food Pantry is honored to partner with Kroger Michigan, United Dairy Industries of Michigan and Gleaners – Livingston County, to help reduce food insecurity in our community,” said Christine Hur, volunteer for the Farley Hill Food Pantry. “Kroger’s astonishing gift will bolster our efforts to provide meats, fresh fruits and produce and other foods to promote healthy living – thank you Kroger for your support that enables us to serve others.”
