Kroger Makes Donating Food Easy with 2024 January In-store Drives

Winter weather brings many obstacles, from higher utility bills to transportation barriers. Many people in need might have to choose between staying warm or going hungry. Luckily, there is an easy way to help your neighbors: Kroger Food Drives.

For the thirteenth year, we’re partnering with Kroger Co. of Michigan to host food drives in January. Stop by any of the 80 participating Kroger stores across Southeast Michigan for an easy way to donate food to those who need it most.

Food donated through the Kroger Food Drives goes directly to Gleaners’ partners across southeast Michigan.

How You Can Participate

Volunteer: We need volunteers to help greet customers and make sure they know what food and personal hygiene items are needed most. Sign up to volunteer at your local Kroger and help us reach more people this winter!  **A full list of stores appears at the bottom of this blog post.**

All January Volunteer Opportunities

Donate while you shop: Each county area of Kroger stores has a specific weekend for the drive, which will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Our volunteers will be there to greet you and provide a list of the foods and personal items that are needed most. Gather items while you shop and donate them at checkout. It’s an easy way to give back during your regular shopping routine.

Customers may also donate cash, or use the QR code displayed at store Entrances and Exits to donate online.

These donation events are part of the Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative to end hunger and food waste in communities Kroger serves by 2025.
