Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist Visits Gleaners

Detroit – During a news conference in Detroit, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist joined Gleaners Community Food Bank and community leaders to announce that the Working Families Tax Credit checks are arriving to families early. “We’re making significant progress on this issue,” Gilchrist said, noting that people will have more money to spend on food. “We recognize that hunger is a challenge across Michigan and continues to be, so we’re not going to give up and will continue to be creative and to find ways to help people.” 

“When we take hunger off the table, children, families and seniors and other neighbors in need have a great chance at success in life,” Gleaners’ President and CEO, Gerry Brisson said.
