“Thanks to generous community partners – Kroger and Detroit News/Detroit Free Press – Gleaners is able to provide over 7,000 meals to hungry families in our community,” said Kessel. “We hope to make this a holiday tradition.”
The donation was made as part of a joint Kroger-Detroit News/Detroit Free Press partnership over the Thanksgiving holiday.
“We are honored and humbled to be able to donate all of the meals this check represents,” Fitzwater added. “On behalf of Kroger, Gleaners and the News and Free Press, thank you to everyone who purchased a Thanksgiving edition paper at Kroger so we could make this donation.”
