Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan would love to have you join our mobile distribution team!
This temporary part – time position requires you to be outside in the elements (sunshine, heat, cold, snow, hail, rain) and on your feet while you are working. You will be working in a parking lot, and cars will be pulling up in a “drive through” type of way. You will be working on a team of 4 to 6 individuals. You will be required to wear gloves, and a face mask and practice social distancing at all times while working. You will also be completing a COVID screening questionnaire every day when you arrive at your work site.
Mobile distribution locations and schedules change DAILY. Due to this type of distribution, there is no guarantee of a set number of hours per day, or per work. Team members typically work 2-3 hours per distribution You may work two distributions one day, one distribution on another day, and no distributions on a different day. You need to be available to travel to locations in Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties. You will be placing boxes and bags of food into individual vehicles as people pull through the line. You may have to start as early as 8 am, and there may be distributions that last until 4:30 pm.
This position pays $15 /hour. Taxes will be taken out, and you will receive a W2 at the end of the calendar year.
Ideally, we are looking for staff who are available Monday through Friday. You will be traveling to a different location every day. You will typically get your assignment 48-72 hours in advance of your shift. At that time, you will be provided with the location, address and the time you are expected to arrive.
